Causes of retinal folds include retinal dysplasia, ROP, posterior retinal tear, Uveal effusion syndrome, Epiretinal membranes, Retinal toxicity of systemic and topical medications and helminthic disease of Toxocara. Flatening of the retina is facilitated with removal of traction membranes, releasing retinotomies and retinectomies.
